Point Harbor Wedding Policy

At Point Harbor Church, we place a premium on the institution and ceremony of Christian marriage. Christian weddings are wonderful, God-driven events!

If you are considering getting married at Point Harbor Church or having one of our pastors perform the wedding ceremony, there are a few details you would need to know:

Membership Requirements

Because Point Harbor is not a wedding chapel, but a Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, we see our primary responsibility as that of marrying only couples where at least one is an active member.

On-Site Facility Use

Our facilities are available for weddings, upon calendar and scheduling approval. Weddings are typically performed on Fridays or Saturdays. Other days of the week may be available, upon approval. Couples will agree to pay a minimum fee of $1,000.00. All fees include pastoral, administrative and custodial fees. Additional fees may apply for use of other PHCC facilities. A $500.00 deposit is required before placing the date on our calendar.

To see the full wedding policy and fee structure, please read the Point Harbor Wedding Policy.

Requesting a Pastor

We understand that choosing a pastor to perform the wedding ceremony is important. At Point Harbor, we want to make every effort to support your choice of pastor for ceremony. However, we will need to work within the schedule and calendar of the pastor of your choosing. We receive many requests for our Lead Pastor to perform wedding ceremonies. Due to high demand and busy schedule, our Lead Pastor does not perform wedding ceremonies.

Premarital Counseling
Deciding to commit to a lifetime together is a very exciting time and also a very serious time. We are glad that you desire to follow the plan God has specified in His Word for a successful home. A healthy marriage requires a healthy foundation. We are desirous that marriages are centered on Jesus Christ in order to bring glory to God. For those who are pursuing marriage through Point Harbor Church, we require a six week premarital counseling course. The course will be conducted either by one of our lay ministry couples or by the pastor performing the ceremony. Upon completion of the course, a pastoral meeting is required to plan the ceremony. NOTE: This is only to discuss ceremony details (i.e.: order of ceremony). Our pastors & staff do not perform wedding planning services.

Off-Site Weddings

Pastors at Point Harbor may be able to perform weddings off-site if it fits within their schedules. However, the couples still must comply with the requirements above, including membership and premarital counseling. Pastoral officiant fees and premarital counseling costs of $450.00 will apply. Please note that weddings are not performed outside of the Hampton Roads area without prior approval.
