Dominican Republic Mission Trip
This is a cross-cultural mission trip in the Dominican Republic. We will be working with our partner in Azua, a city in the western part of the Dominican Republic. The town is a poverty-stricken area with a population of about 130,000. Unemployment among able bodies and teen pregnancy is widespread.
Our main goal will be to work with our partner to reach teenagers in Azua.
Some of the activities will be:
- Basketball and volleyball. Both of these sports are very attractive to youth in the community. We plan to organize week-long basketball and volleyball tournaments among teens. Our students will participate as one of the teams in each tournament. Testimonies and services will be done before and after the daily games.
- Teaching Life Skills – Specifically English, music and computers. The service sector in general, and tourism in particular, has become the most important source of jobs in the Dominican Republic. Learning English remains the number one skill needed for people to find a job in that industry. But also, basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and reading music or playing an instrument also increase the probability of securing a job.
- Evangelism – leading Bible studies, door-to-door sharing and sharing our testimonies.
Are you an athlete and basketball or volleyball are your sports? Do you know how to speak Spanish, are a computer whiz or are gifted in music and can teach others? Or do you have a passion for evangelism and teaching the Bible? Then apply below to go to the Dominican Republic Mission Trip this summer and allow God to use you in the city of Azua!
This trip is for students in 9th-12th grades.
