At Point Harbor, we recognize the need for membership – a partnership where you commit to be a part of what God is doing at Point Harbor.
We ask you to commit to membership for 4 reasons:
- BIBLICAL: Christ is committed to the church. Christ loved the church, and gave His life for it… – Eph. 5:25
- CULTURAL: It is an antidote to our society. We live in an age where few are committed to anything; a job, a marriage…. This attitude has produced a generation of “church shoppers and hoppers”. Membership swims against the current of America’s “consumer religion”. It is unselfish. Commitment builds character.
- PRACTICAL: It defines who you can count on. Every team must have its roster. Every school must have its roll. Every business must have its payroll. Every army must have an enlistment. Even our country takes a census and requires voter registration! Membership identifies our family.
- PERSONAL: It produces spiritual growth. The New Testament places a major emphasis on the need for Christians to be accountable to each other for spiritual growth. You cannot be accountable when you are not committed to any specific church family.
